Last Post

Hey guys and welcome to my very last post on this blog. The school year is finally coming to an end which sadly means this blog must end with it. This blog was actually a  semester long project in my academic grade 10 English class. I have had such an amazing time writing each one of these post for all of my fantastic readers. Thank you so much for being such great readers and staying loyal followers to this blog. Your support was very much appreciated. It was a great experience to learn how to make a blog and I will for sure be remembering it and using what I have learn in future school and life projects. I hope you all have enjoyed my posts and taken tips and lessons from each and every one. I didn't know how I would think up of new topics to approach and talk about in detail each time I wrote but all of your suggestions and great questions are really what made this blog successful and worth reading.

Just to recap, the topics of my posts have been:
  1. Dealing with school
  2. Fighting acne
  3. How to deal with bullying
  4. Staying in shape
  5. Musical playlist
  6. Great summer activities
I had a blast writing each and every one of these posts and hoped you had a blast reading them.

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Now, just because this blog is done doesn't mean i won't continue to give advice or help you out if you're in a rough situation. If you ever need somebody to talk to, my email allib.blogs@gmail.com will always be active.

Once again i must thank you for making this blog a success and I wish you a great future filled with happiness. Remember, you are only a teen once so try to enjoy it and focus on the positive.

Great Summer Activities

Hey guys and welcome to my seventh blog post! There's two days of school and I couldn't be any more excited! This post will list super fun activities to do in the summer either alone, with friends, with family or with complete strangers! Let's get started!

Go to the Beach
Going to the beach is probably the most stereotypical summer activity you could do but that doesn't make it any less fun. You can go with friends or family and hang out near the water all day. There’s so many things you can do while you’re there such as swimming, tanning, playing some beach volleyball, having a barbecue lunch and more. Personally, going to the beach is one of my favourite summer activities because I love swimming and being outside all day (plus I really do like tanning).

Have a Bonfire
Bonfires were slowly getting less and less attention but they have really made a comeback these last few years. It’s a great activity to do with some friends. Sitting around a fire, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows and just chatting away is a pretty great way to spend a summer night. Just make sure you have some bug repellent for those nights where there are a lot of mosquitos.

Throw a Party
The best time to throw a party is during the summer. There's so many themes you could choose from like a pool party or a Hawaiian themed party. My birthday is in July so throwing a birthday party during the summer is always a cool activity to do. Plan a date and have a get together with some friends. Make sure you have good music playing, tasty snacks out for the guest and cool activities planned and the party will be a hit.

Go on Vacation
Summer is your time off: don’t sit around in your house doing nothing all day! Summertime is the best time to go on vacation with your family to places like Europe and Florida. Due to our hectic schedules throughout the school year, my family doesn't tend to get a lot of vacation opportunities between the months of September to June so when summer comes along we take full advantage. Going on camping trips and to a family cottage are great get aways during the summer. My personal favourite summer vacation remains a trip to Disney World in Orlando Florida.

Go to an Amusement Park or Carnival
Carnivals and amusement parks are huge during the summer months. Pick a day and go hang out all day with some friends at either a local festival or a world known amusement park. I personally don’t enjoy roller coasters too much but these types of events always have alternative options like a waterpark, games, live bands and more so everybody can really enjoy themselves.

There you have it: a list of super fun and enjoyable summer activities. You have to remember the main goal during the summer is to try and stay out of the house as much as possible. If you only get 2 months of summer freedom don’t waste them inside watching movies and laying on the couch all day. That being said, I hope you all have a great and safe summer.

Musical Playlist

Hey and welcome to my sixth blog post! I have just recently received a request of making some musical playlist for different events such as parties or workout sessions. I personally love this request due to the fact that music plays a very important role in my everyday life and I listen to it as much as I possibly can. Basically, this blog post will be filled up with a variety of playlist that I've used or that people I know have used fitting with different types of scenarios. Just a quick warning before we get started, some of these songs may not necessarily be appropriate for everyone due to it's language or its context. I apologize if some songs may not be to your liking, but I have based my playlist off of popular songs teens listen too in order to give the most accurate playlists. With that said, let's get started!

First things first, let's make a workout playlist! I find that some of the best motivation during a workout is up beat music. When a song has a fast beat, we tend to try and match our steps to the beat or get into a timed rhythm with our exercises forcing us to push ourselves harder and workout for longer. The following short list will provide you with great fast passed songs.
  1. Can't Hold Us ~ Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (I know many don't like this artist but this song is my personal favourite to listen to when running. The tempo set by the drums is perfect to match your steps too.)
  2. The Night Is Still Young ~ Nicki Minaj
  3. My House ~ Flo Rida
  4. Going Down For Real (GDFR) ~ Flo Rida
  5. Black Widow ~ Iggy Azalea
  6. Hey Mama ~ David Guetta
  7. Confident ~ Demi Lovato
  8. Me & My Girls ~ Selena Gomez (This starts off a little slow but once it picks up, it's a great song for workouts)
  9. Something Big ~ Shawn Mendes
  10. Hey Everybody ~ 5SOS
  11. Fancy ~ Iggy Azalea
  12. Timber ~ Ke$ha and Pitbull
  13. A Little Party Never Killed Nobody ~ Fergie, Q-Tip and Goonrook
  14. Work ~ Rihanna
  15. Run The World (Girls) ~ Beyonce
  16. The Monster ~ Eminem and Rihanna
  17. Stronger ~ Kelly Clarkson
  18. All I Do Is Win ~ DJ Khaled
  19. Turn Down For What ~ Lil John
  20. Jumpman - Drake
  21. Hotlinebling - Drake

Next, I'll be putting together a playlist that's perfect for 2016 summer pool parties. These songs are full of energy that will keep everybody in a nice, happy mood while enjoying swimming and tanning by the pool with their friends.
  1. Ain't It Fun ~ Paramore
  2. Everybody Talks ~ Neon Trees
  3. Riptide ~ Vance Joy
  4. Shut Up And Dance ~ Walk The Moon
  5. One Dance ~ Drake
  6. Really Don't Care ~ Demi Lovato
  7. Stitches ~ Shawn Mendes
  8. Cake by the Ocean Floor ~ DNCE
  9. Sit Still, Look Pretty ~ Daya
  10. All My Friends ~ Snakeship
  11. Locked Away ~ Rock City
  12. Trap Queen ~ Fetty Wap
  13. Never Forget You - Zara Larsson and MNEK
  14. House Party - Sam Hunt
  15. Work From Home - Fifth Harmony
  16. Don Let Me Down - The Chainsmokers
  17. Sorry - Justin Bieber
  18. What Do You Mean - Justin Bieber
  19. Same Old Love - Selena Gomez
  20. Me, Myself and I ~ G-Easy
  21. Ride ~ Twenty One Pilots

Alright so the third and final playlist of this post will be filled with relaxing songs. These songs are great to listen to when you’re studying, reading a book or (my personal favourite) when you’re trying to take a nap.
  1. Let It Go - James Bay
  2. Waves - Mr.Probz
  3. Lay It All On Me - Ed Sheeran
  4. 7 Years - Lukas Graham
  5. Superficial Love - Ruth B.
  6. Rise Up - Andra Day
  7. Fight Song - Rachel Platten
  8. Human - Christina Perri
  9. Lost Boy - Ruth B.
  10. Say Something - A Great Big World
  11. Skyfall - Adele (Really anything by Adele is amazing and I recommend listening to her music)
  12. When I Was Your Man - Bruno Mars
  13. Stay - Rihanna
  14. Flashlight - Jessie J.
  15. Lay Me Down - Sam Smith
  16. Photograph - Ed Sheeran

So there you go, a few playlist to make all your activities more enjoyable due to the power of music. If you have any ideas for future topics or questions you would like advice for, please don't be shy and leave a comment containing what you would like me to discuss. Staying in shape

Hey guys and welcome to my fifth blog post. This post officially marks the halfway point of my blog. This one will be all about how to get in good shape. Now before we start I need to make something very clear: you should not be trying to get in shape for anybody other than yourself. Your mentality should not be based on other people's opinion.
Staying fit tends to be a big cause of stress in the daily life of a teenager. Whether it be they want to lose weight to look good and fit into a certain bathing suit during the summer, they want to improve in physical education classes or they simply want to see physical improvement in their body. Now I'm going to talk about the two big components that affect your health and shape:
  1. Exercise
  2. Healthy eating habits

So first things first: exercise. Many people think this  to be a hard and daunting task but I personally things it's the better component of the two. Staying physically active will result in quicker building and toning of muscles in the body. Also it helps improve the mood and energy levels in teens due to the fact that it stimulates the body to release more endorphins into the bloodstream. So basically, exercise improves not only physical health, but also mental health.
Now there are many different types of exercise such as strength training with weights or aerobic exercise seen while playing a sport like basketball or hockey. I personally have participated and continue to participate on a daily basis with both of these types of exercise due to the fact that I play on a competitive soccer team and as a team we do crossfit training at a gym. Also taking part in a school gym class is a great way to stay motivated on the daily to do physical exercise.

Alright so you're probably thinking "get on with it and just tell me what exercises I can do", well that's what I'll do right now. There's so many possible workouts to fit everybody's specific requirements but my personal workout is the following:
  1. Stretch: This step is very often forgotten about but it's the most important. Take 10 to 15 minutes before your workout to stretch everything out properly and try and avoid injuries.
  2. 10 to 15 minute run: Ok so I know most who just read this step will want to quit right away (and believe me I would too) but cardio is super important and necessary. It builds endurance and is the easiest way to lose fat allowing your muscles to look much more defined.
  3. 45 minutes to an hour of workout: There are many different approaches you could take for your workouts. You could work a different part of your body depending on the day of the week or you could just stick to full body workout session. My favourite way to make sure I'm getting an effective workout is to follow video like Insanity Asylum or following workout circuit that can be found only.
  4. Stretch: Once again stretching is the best way to prevent injuries. I take a post workout stretch very seriously due to the fact that less than a year ago I got a small tear in my ACL and messed up my meniscus. My doctor told me that if I want to prevent it from getting worse or from doing it again, I need to make sure I stretch out properly and pan attention to how my muscles are feeling before and after a workout session.

Now I need to talk about the second component of getting into shape: healthy eating habits. I'm not going to tell you that you need to go on a diet and purchase some protein powder for before and after your workouts because that would be idiotic. Teenagers do not need to spend all their money on expensive shakes and eating plans just to get into better shape. Their are much simpler, less expensive and ideal ways to eat healthier.
  1. Get the nutrients your body needs: Many think that if they just don't eat or eat very little substance they will lose weight. Of course they're right because you aren't feeding your body but it is one of the most unhealthy things you could possibly do. Not eating I'll make you look more sickly then it will toned and fit. To ensure you get all the nutrients you need, I personally believe you should follow a health guide or talk to your doctor.
  2. Drink water: Staying hydrated by drinking water is super important. Water allows detoxification in the body which means it get all the toxins out allowing more space for good nutriments. In general, you should aim to drink around 2 liters of water a day.
  3. Listen to your body: It's great to have a daily routine eating schedule but some days you might be more or less hungry than others. It's really important to listen to the signs your body will show you.

On that note I would like to conclude this post. I hope these little tip have help you out. If you have any ideas for future topics or questions you would like advice for, please don't be shy and leave a comment containing what you would like me to discuss. How to deal with bullying

Hey and welcome to my fourth post. Based on multiple requests I've decided that this post will be all about how to deal with bullying in your life. I'll be covering things from how to identify it to how to fix the situation.
Just like every problem, in order to defeat and overcome it we need to understand what it really is.  According to multiple sources bullying is "Repeated, persistent and aggressive behaviour intended to cause fear, distress, or harm to another person's body, emotions, self-esteem or reputation. " In easier words, bullying is the repeated offense meant to cause a negative effect in another person. There are four main types of bullying:

  1. Verbal: name-calling, insults, racist comments...
  2. Social: spreading rumours, embarrassing the person, hurting somebody's reputation...
  3. Physical:  hitting, kicking, damaging property...
  4. Cyber:  humiliation through social media,  verbal or emotional bullying through texting...
In each case of bullying there are three roles that are filled: the bully/attacker, the bullied/victim and the bystander. According to researches, over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year and almost 160,000 teens miss school every day because of their situation with bullying. These number are way too high and people need to start taking a stand to get them lower. Being bullied  s an adolescent can have major damage effects in the future, such as depression, malnourishment, poor education etc.  Teens who were bullied also have a higher suicide attempt rate and its only gotten worse with the growing threat of cyberbullying.

I, myself, have had a long past with being bullied and I don’t believe anybody should have to live through such a thing. It truly is a horrible phenomenon that keeps appearing more and more and that in itself is a huge issue. Also, it is something that no matter what will stay with you. No, it won't hurt the same a it once did but you don't forget situation like that.

I remember once when i was little and went on a school field trip to a place called Safety Village. A police officer held up a drawing of a boy and said “Say whatever you want to this boy”. As more and more kids yelled out negative comments such as “you’re ugly” towards the picture, the officer would crumple up the paper until he had it in a ball. The he told us to apologize to the picture. Once again the students followed what he said and began yelling out apologies. As the more “I'm sorry” got yelled, the officer would unravel the page and he was left with a wrinkle paper with the image of a boy on it. The students didn't understand why the page didn't go back to normal and that's when the police officer said “No matter how much you say i'm sorry, this boy will always be different because of your mean words.” To date, that remains one of the most important lessons I have ever learned.

Now I'm not going to type up some long winded speech about how if you just say no and stand up to your bully everything will be ok and you'll com out of this situation hand in hand as friends because let’s be honest, that most likely will never happen. Life is not a movie and you can’t expect the same results as one either. I will, however, inform you on the best ways to deal with your bullying situation that I’ve personally found very useful and effective.

  • Tell an adult: I know this may seem like the scariest option but believe me it helps a ton. The best solution would be to go directly to a teacher, parent or adult figure that you trust right from the start in order to stop the problem at it's root. Naturally, the victim might be embarrassed to go to such a figure but you need to understand that without their help, the situation will most likely get worse.
  • Talk it out: Sometimes it makes the victim feel a lot better to simply talk out their problem with a close friend or a kids help line where they can stay anonymous.
  • Make it known: Make sure your attacker knows that you don’t appreciate their commentary or actions. On the contrary, try and stay strong. Most bullies do what they do merely to get a rise out of their victim; don’t feed their fire by reacting.
  • Surround yourself: To stay strong in such a period of time, you can’t isolate yourself. I understand that, with the bullying, you might not be the most popular and that is perfectly ok. Personally I’ve never been popular but you don’t need 100 friends in order to get through being bullied. As long as you have two or three close, trustworthy friends by your side you can get through anything.
  • Start/Join a movement: There are so many petitions and anti-bullying activities and petitions that should be out there in your community. If they are already in motion, join them. If they aren't there, create them. Even the smallest voice can be revolutionary and make the biggest change.
  • Remember the truth: Bullies will make up any type of lie just to get a reaction. Never, and I mean never believe what they say to you. You have a purpose on this earth and no matter how many times they say otherwise will not change the fact that you have meaning and you are loved.

The most important thing to remember is never to become a bully yourself. No matter the situation, you need to think of your actions and words before hand and understand their consequences before you put them into action. Some bullies don't comprehend what they are doing because they simply think that they're being funny and joking around. Not all jokes or pranks are taken with the same thought process which means you need to avoid hurting or offending people. Also, everybody is unique and has their forces and weaknesses, but it is not up to you or anybody else to point them out. Nobodies perfect and it's ok to be different.

On that note, I conclude this post. I am so sorry if you're going through or have gone through such a terrible situation like bullying. If you ever need more advice on this topic or just need a friend while you’re going through a rough patch, please don’t hesitate to email me and I’ll try my best to help you out. If you have any ideas for future topics or questions you would like advice for, please don't be shy and leave a comment containing what you would like me to discuss. If you would rather stay anonymous feel free to email me at allib.blogs@gmail.com and I'll answer your question while keeping your identity unknown to the rest of the readers.
